Helping Churches Manage Healthcare Reform: We’ve spent the past couple of years trying to figure this out. It's almost impossible to keep up on it. Following it in the news - reading the bill - waiting for the Supreme Court ruling - listening to the debates - following Fox News & MSNBC knowing that the truth is somewhere in between - watching the government shutdown - waiting for the exchange to work. No wonder there is so much confusion out there!

Part of health insurance reform requires that all plans include birth control services, including the Morning After Pill. Every plan (except self-insured church plans) will automatically include this coverage.

If your church wants to remove this coverage and align your benefits with the beliefs of your ministry, you need to apply for the Religious Employer Exemption. The way to do this varies from plan to plan, so our agency is only able to do this for churches that currently have their health insurance serviced by our team. If you fill out the linked form, we can complete the Religious Employer Exemption form for you.

ObamaCare vs. The Affordable Care Act -  Which Do You Prefer?

Did you know that even though ObamaCare and the Affordable Care Act are the exact same thing, 46% of people polled oppose ‘ObamaCare’ and 37% oppose the ‘Affordable Care Act’. This man on the street video is a lighthearted look at the confusion over the two terms:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx2scvIFGjE

The Bottom Line:

There are a lot of resources for you, but did you know that there is one thing that everyone needs to understand the individual mandate, and it makes planning a whole lot easier? Read more, here!

Understanding What’s Going On:

I’m afraid that too many people (including your employees and members of your congregation) don’t understand what’s going on and might just be expecting to open their mail on New Year’s Day to find a new health insurance ID card, and expect that everything will fall into place. Since that’s not going to happen, we’ve tried to narrow it down for you.

We’d like to encourage you to share some of these resources with your staff and your congregation:

Great Resources to Keep An Eye On for Healthcare Reform News:

The Kaiser Family Foundation’s Healthcare Reform PageHere’s a great video that explains The Affordable Care Act (aka: ObamaCare)GuideStone’s Healthcare Reform Page (includes some info specific to churches and related ministries) Politico’s ObamaCare Page is updated regularly with information from both sides of the aisle.  Their guide is an excellent resource for in-depth analysis of the main provisions. Covered California: This is California’s exchange marketplace (yes, it works) - Something that you should bookmark and point out to low wage earners who don’t have coverage. Churches in other states should check here. Health Sherpa. This site is pretty amazing. Three geeks (said with the utmost respect) got together and decided to build a working version of the exchange.  It’s for informational purposes only, but it works! Obama should give these guys a call

The clock is ticking and things are changing, but there is still a deadline!  If we can help you out in any way, please just let us know.
